Baha's Grounds of Pretensions
Point’s Reply to The Letter of the Living Mulla Baqir

17.    Point’s Reply to The Letter of the Living Mulla Baqir

17.1.   Summary
According to the Bayan Bayanis are forbidden to inquire about He-Whom-God-Will-Make-Manifest before his appearance. Mulla Baqir addressed such an inquiry to the Primal Point. The Primal Point admonished him for his improper inquiry, to a tone for which the Primal Point called upon him to ask pardon of god, and to say prescribed invocation eight times to the number of the letters in “Illa Allah”, with the letter Lam doubled, symbol of the letters of Affirmation in the profession of belief in the divine Unity (la ilaha illa Allah).

Haply ye might attain unto meeting with He-Whom-God-Will-Make-Manifest in the Eighth year of the day of his manifestation, in reference to whom the Primal Point says that “I am in truth, He Himself, and He is I myself”, and not in the eighth year of the day of the Point’s manifestation. In the Epistle to the Son of the Wolf, Baha quotes excerpts from the Point’s reply in support of his pretensions, sandwiched in between excerpts quoted by Baha are other quotations which have no relevance to the Point’s reply.
