The Events of Mimiyeh (Mazandaran)
Events of Babi Insurrection
at fort of Tabrsi in Mazandaran
وقایع میمیه
The present book concerns the account of the siege of the Babis in Mazandaran province at the fort of Tabarsi by the Iranian army sent in force and deadly fire to eliminate any trace of the Babis in that province. It is the account of the ordinary people who although had no previous fighting experience defended themselves in the utmost heroic manner. They were led by two of the most prominent Letters of The Living Qoddus & Bab-al-Bab also known as the first and the last Letters of the Living. All but a handful of Babis were martyred in most cruel manner.
The place where those Babis lost their lives is sacred to the Bayanis and its soil is considered sanctified by the Primal Point.
The name 'Mimiyeh' is made up of the Arabic/Persian letter 'Mim' (equivalent to the letter 'M') which stands for the first letter of 'Mazandaran' the Iranian province where the fort of Tabarsi is. The suffix 'ieh' means 'related to' or 'associated with'.
The author of this book is Muhammad Hussayn known as Mahjour the son of Muhammad Hadi Tabatabai. He tells us that he was approached in Isfahan by friends in particular the mother and sister of His Holiness Bab-al-Bab to write the history of the events at Mazandaran.
The source of this account is one of the very few who survived the siege (Mahmoud-Hamid Haji Abd-al Majid the son of Haji Muhammad Neyshabouri) and whose accounts are considered as eyewitness. Therefore the account is one of the most important and accurate accounts of the events of fort of Tabarsi in Mazandaran.
The book is transcribed by Mirza Mustafa Katib.
